Freedive Studio - for new members

Join classes at our Freedive Studio, which runs on Sunday mornings at beautiful Lake Berryessa in the heart of California wine country.

Our classes are designed for everyone from certified beginners to expert freedivers. Build upon what you learned in your Beginner Class, or deepen your practice at your own pace.

You have to choose a date for your Introductory Class, but you don't have to choose dates for the subsequent classes you want to attend - you can just show up.

Timing
The Introductory Class runs on Sundays, from 9am - noon. Detailed schedule:

• 9am: Meet in the parking lot, briefing, walk down together.
• 9:30 - 10:30am: Land class.
• 10:30am - noon: Water class.
• Noon - 1pm: Bonus freediving time.
• 2-3pm (optional): Lunch at the Berryessa Gap winery down the road.

Who should take this class?
Our Introductory Class is designed for everyone from certified beginner to advanced freedivers. If you are an expert freediver (AIDA 4* or equivalent) and would like to join the Studio but skip this class, please contact us at hello@finsandfoamfreediving.com.

What does the class cover?
Topics include: 

• Surface safety: lanyards, setting the line, feeling the line, calling a touchdown, surface rescue.
• Depth safety: timing your dive, positioning, when to intervene, depth rescue.
• Buoy management: measuring depth, inflation & deflation, daisy chaining.

On successful completion of the class you are eligible for AIDA 2 certification.

Location
Our freediving spot is at the south east end of the lake, next to the dam, about an hour's drive north of San Francisco. Here are the GPS coordinates for our spot: 38.509385, -122.112025. You can also find it by typing "Freedive Studio" into Google Maps.

Rescheduling and refunds
You can cancel for a full refund up until 24 hours before the start of your Introductory Class, subject to the 2.9% payment processing fee charged by our payment processing provider, and reschedule at no charge up until 24 hours before the start of class. After 24 hours before the start of class, you cannot cancel or reschedule for any reason either medical (surgery, covid, injury, etc) or non-medical (moving, etc).
